[Update at 6.01pm: According to reports, the e-scooter rider has died in hospital. We have updated our story to reflect this development.]
A 52-year-old man who rode an e-scooter on the road was reportedly sent unconscious to Changi General Hospital after a serious accident with a double-decker SBS bus.
According to The Straits Times, the incident occurred on the morning of Thursday, Nov. 30, at the junction of Bedok Reservoir Road and Kaki Bukit Avenue 1.
It was subsequently reported that the man has died in Changi General Hospital.
In photos posted on public Facebook group SG Road Vigilante, the windscreen of the bus was severely cracked, ostensibly from a high-impact collision.
The scooter could also been seen under the larger vehicle:
The casualty, who was bleeding from his head, was seen being assisted by other pedestrians:
The police have confirmed that they were notified of the accident at 10:28am, and investigations are ongoing.
And on the topic of possibly-reckless personal mobility device (PMD) users, a Caucasian man was reportedly seen riding his motorised skateboard during the morning peak hour — also on Thursday — and even challenged the driver who honked at him.
The Facebook user who posted photos of this particular run-in also added a graphic displaying regulations by the Land Transport Authority (LTA), which state that only electric and conventional bicycles are allowed on the roads:
Errant users may be fined up to S$5,000, jailed up to six months, or both.
