Otters have made their presence felt among Singaporeans over recent years.
So much so, they have even cultivated some overseas fans too.
On the otter trail
A video put up on Sept. 18 by one Thai travel vlogger known as The Walking Backpacker, showed how he spent two days searching for otters in Singapore.
The video captured some great footage of the otters at Marina Bay and it shared useful tips and information about these "superstar creatures", as many Singaporeans also spend weekends otter-spotting.
Difficult to spot otters
With more reporting of otters on social media, one might think that it is easy to spot otters, but nope.
Sighting otters can be difficult if one does not have sufficient knowledge about them, which made this one of the hardest videos the vlogger had to make in 2017:
On a more serious note, the video also showed human-otter interaction.
Cross-species interaction is becoming more common as you can see that the otters are pretty much fearless in the presence of a crowd like this:
The Walking Backpacker video also showed the playful or defensive ones chasing after (or away) a pet dog, if the intruder is in their territory like this:
Therefore, it is always good to be mindful of keeping a distance as we enjoy the presence of these furry friends.
More often than not, territorial disputes in any forms entail more risk to them than to humans.
