If you didn't get to try McDonald's sold-out Nasi Lemak burger, or are just unsatisfied with their rendition of it, here are two more options to check out.
1) The Beast Nasi Lemak Burger (S$20)
Made especially for National Day, restaurant/bar The Beast has come up with a special menu of Nasi Lemak Burgers, Beef Rendang Cheese Fries, and more.
The burger consists of fried chicken thigh smothered with house-made sambal, a runny egg, and deep fried fragrant coconut rice "buns" (the rice is hand-shaped into a patty and coated with bread crumbs before frying).
The dish is served with a side of luncheon meat fries.
Other celebratory dishes include:
Salted Egg Yolk Chicken & Pandan Waffles (S$20)
Salted egg yolk chicken served on a crisp pandan waffle with a side of creamy milk sauce.
Beef Rendang Cheese Fries (S$14)
Fries topped with a secret rendang recipe and mozzarella cheese.
Pandan Arnold Palmer (S$6)
Pandan infused lemonade with southern sweet tea.
Discount alert: Get all three dishes + two Pandan Arnold Palmers for S$56 (U.P. S$66). If you can bring yourself to yum seng with their staff, you get another S$4 off.
The items will only be available for the month of August, so don't dilly dally.

2) Nasi Lemak Burger @ Makansutra Gluttons Bay
It might be the banana leaf, but deconstruct it and you might just get a plate of real nasi lemak.
This version is made with otah rice patties, fish fillet, fried egg, cucumbers, ikan bilis, nuts, and a dose of sambal chilli.
You can even watch them make it here:
They're missing the fried chicken though.
Idea: buy both burgers and eat them together.
