The Singapore police are looking into an incident on the North South Line MRT train on Saturday, June 3.

This was after a police report has been lodged against what looked like a silent protest on the train.

Photos of the protest originated from social activist Jolovan Wham, who shared the images on his Facebook page.

A query regarding the lawfulness of the demonstration was posted on the Singapore Police Force Facebook page on Sunday:

The various images showed several commuters holding the book, 1987: Singapore’s Marxist Conspiracy 30 Years On, while blindfolded in sitting or standing positions.

Pieces of printed paper with the slogans, "Marxist conspiracy?" and "Justice For Operation Spectrum Survivors" accompanied them.

In 1987, under the Internal Security Act, 22 people accused by the government of plotting a Marxist conspiracy to overthrow the state were detained without trial.

The 1987 book was launched last month by ex-detainees to mark the anniversary of their arrests.

The police has requested anyone with information of this incident to submit it online at www.police.gov.sg/iwitness. All information will be kept strictly confidential.
