Our animals just can't seem to catch a break, as news of the suspected death of the Marina otter family's patriarch emerged, following the death of Omar the white tiger at the Singapore zoo on the same day earlier.
Even though the otter's body is still not found and final word on its demise is pending confirmation, as per the photo, "In memory of" implies death.
The Marina daddy otter was previously found to be unwell. Blood was found in its faeces, and it had been spotted vomitting and appearing lethargic. The cause of his sudden deterioration in health is unknown.
Life has been pretty hard for the Marina otter family currently residing at Singapore River. There have been incidents of the entrance of the family's holt being blocked on top of other problems with hazards like fish hooks.
Here's a series that speaks of their story:
The daddy otter's passing will see him survived by 11 other otters in the family, especially mummy otter, who must stay strong and live well.
