Cosplay is an increasingly popular hobby among Singaporean youths.
Outside of events and conventions, some cosplayers may choose to go for photoshoots individually or as a team.
Due to the intricacy of the costumes and elaborate preparations, it can sometimes be a little over-the-top to other members of the general public.
Well, a little too striking perhaps for this one guy, who found it so strange, he had to write on the Singapore Police Force on Facebook.
We're not kidding.
So basically, this complainant saw two "strange" women at the area near Punggol jetty, who "tied many ropes on their trousers" and "their hair are not real".
Ropes? Trousers? Wigs?
Sounds an awful lot like cosplayers from the Attack on Titan series.
Attack on Titans started out as a comic series in 2009 and became a worldwide hit when the first season was released in 2013, spawning even it's very own attraction in Universal Studios Japan. The second season is currently ongoing.
Given the benefit of the doubt, the complainant could just simply be unaware of cosplay culture in Singapore, and genuinely misunderstood the two female cosplayers to be something else.
We can't help but wonder why the complainant didn't clarify with the cosplayers themselves on the spot.
But it seems that a kind user's reply comment has since helped clear the misunderstanding:
However, this isn't the first time that the public has felt the urge to contact the police over cosplay.
In 2013, during Anime Festival Asia, it was reported that a woman who was entering a place of worship at the same venue as the convention hall called the police as she felt that one of the cosplayer's outfit was too revealing.
He might be convinced to be an anime fan now.
