After a bruising campaign rife with mud-slinging, claims and counter-claims, Team LKT led by former FAS Vice-President Lim Kia Tong edged out Team Game Changers led by the controversial Hougang United and Tiong Bahru football club chairman Bill Ng in a score of 30-13, with one invalid vote at the inaugural Football Association of Singapore (FAS) election on April 29.
The election took place at the Black Box Auditorium at the Singapore Sports Hub. Voting started at 11 am and the results were announced after half an hour.
44 FAS affiliates, of which 23 are National Football League (NFL clubs), cast their votes for a leadership team that will lead Singapore's football administration and development for the next four years.
And Team LKT clinched the win despite strong connections with the previous council and a groundswell of desire for change.
For teams contesting through a slate, a minimum of two-thirds of the votes is needed to win.
