This Yishun version of the handsome policeman standee proves Yishun is one of a kind

You've come to the right place.

Yishun as a whole has developed quite a reputation as the land of siao langs.

Now, perhaps that image has been exaggerated by the media, or it just so happens that any case that happens in Yishun gets subjected to a harsher lens than other parts of Singapore.

But there has been one correlation that has escaped those that label Yishun as siao langs.

The most creative people are usually the most insane.

And no one insanes harder than Yishun.

Here is an example:

Take the handsome police officer standee:

Now, it is widely acknowledged that this is a sign to stop things — namely, potential shoplifters.

So, any parody of the standee usually involves themes of regulation or restriction.

Only an absolute creative genius could subvert that idea completely.

Enter Yishun.

A maid agency in Chong Pang came up with their own version of the renowned advisory:

Not only did they perfectly recreate the pose and hand gesture, they somehow successfully reinvented its meaning altogether.

Whereas the original involved a figure of authority sternly stopping shop theft, this one conveys warmth through a smiling face, which invariably changes the meaning from "Stop" to "High 5, man".

They also replaced the baton with a dustpan.

Freaking geniuses.
