Not long after the Western Co. customer service fiasco, another round of drama, albeit on a slightly smaller scale, is unfolding on Facebook — this time concerning a pet grooming business called June's Pethouse.
Facebook user Van Lim posted the following review, accusing them of "horrific" customer service and relegating them to the 1-star dustbin.
In summary:
- Lim was upset to be informed that the shop was "closed and don't do walk ins" at 12.55pm, even though its opening hours were listed as 10am to 6pm. She also didn't bring her dog along, and didn't understand why he thought she was looking for an on-the-spot grooming session.
- She saw another customer there, whom she said was browsing, when this exchange happened, and so felt unwelcome and left.
This review happens to be perhaps the only one-star comment on June's Pethouse's page — we'll show you some of the others in a bit — and it would be fair to say that it upset its owner, June Tan, who returned with a not-so-PC reply:
Which promptly escalated into a catfight — here's en excerpt of it:
Another Facebook user who saw the review jumped to the store's defence, but it soon escalated:
And it even attracted the attention and response of the lady whom Lim saw browsing in the store while it was closed:
As well as some others, who sound like regular customers:
Lim also received backlash for labelling the male counter staff as "buck-toothed", and edited her post to add an apology:
This little back-and-forth seems to have triggered a wave of five-star reviews over the past day or so, but the business's good reviews go back to before it happened as well. Here are a couple of them:
Here's where it gets even less cool
Unfortunately, Lim persisted in her unhappiness with the way the pet store handled her criticism, and posted screenshots of their replies, as well as those of other customers, to her own Facebook page:
This was then shared by Tan on her own Facebook page:
Catfight aside, though, perhaps this response from a person who commented on her post sums the issue up best:
After all, there are few things uglier than an uncalled-for public catfight. Especially if it stems from a simple misunderstanding.
