After impressing in the auditions for one of China's premier singing competition, Sing! China, Nathan Hartono proved yesterday, Aug. 26, that he was no one-time fluke by making it into the top five of his mentor Jay Chou's team.

He defeated fellow teammate Huang Junjie of China to secure one of the five positions.

Hartono is now the first Singaporean to make it past the battle round.

The battle round is where the top 10 of each mentor's team battle it out with each other to advance to the playoffs and the live shows.

Hartono will now duke it out with the finalists from the other mentor's team in the upcoming rounds. The other mentors include Harlem Yu, Na Ying and Wang Feng.

Here is his rendition of Eason Chan's song We Are All Lonely that prompted Jay Chou to pick him.
