Taking public transport in Australia? Meet Bogan Barry, Bus Uncle's mate Down Under

Never be late for the tram again.

Ever since his debut in 2016, Bus Uncle has helped millions of Singaporeans find out exactly how late they will be for the bus.

So successful this uncle has been that even its creation story was a fascinating tale in itself.

But if you find yourself in Australia and need transportation advice, Bus Uncle has an Australian counterpart, named Bogan Barry.

Bogan Barry works just like Bus Uncle. Tell him where you are and he'll let you know when the next bus, train, or tram is arriving.

Bogan Barry was brought to life by Max and Mitch, two brothers from Melbourne. During an interview with Triple R Radio, Max revealed that the inspiration for Bogan Barry came from Mitch's colleague, who is based in Singapore.

That colleague? None other than Abhilash Murthy, the creator of Bus Uncle.

Users be warned, though — just like Bus Uncle's very authentic Singaporean Singlish, Barry's directions are given in a very thick Aussie accent, faithfully reproduced in text form. Even Bus Uncle has trouble understanding him sometimes:

Barry only works within the Australian state of Victoria for now, but he might cover the whole continent before too long.

If you're ever Down Under, drop Bogan Barry a line. Just remember to take cover if you hear thunder.
