Killjoy.

In typical killjoy fashion, the Marine Parade Town Council has come out to explain a notice in the estate that featured the same personnel as both cleaning supervisor and cleaner of a HDB block:

This was after the notice became a meme online that prompted "ownself supervise ownself" jokes to break out island-wide in an apparent dig at the ruling government.

In defence of its conservancy cleaner, MPTC explained in their Facebook post on Tuesday, July 11, that Moktar has been working for them for five years.

He was the supervisor for Blocks 120 to 134 at Geylang East Central and Avenue 1, and the cleaner for that particular block where the notice appeared.

Denouncing "ownself supervise ownself" accusations of conflicts of interest, the post said: "He reports to his site manager, who oversees the progress of his work, on a daily basis."

The town council then praised Moktar for being an "unsung hero" of the estate and also said that he was aware that he had become an "overnight online sensation".

The post added: "When asked about how he feels working in the estate, he said that he is pleased to serve our residents and will continue doing his best to upkeep our estate."

Ownself quote ownself.
