A woman in the Henan province of China was hit by a taxi at an intersection ignored until she got run over by another car, with both its pairs of wheels.

The unidentified woman was seen in a viral video clip standing in the middle of a zebra crossing, waiting for traffic to clear so she could cross the other half of the road.

All of a sudden, she is hit head-on by a red taxi:

The video, which was originally uploaded on Chinese social site Weibo, then shows dozens of pedestrians, as well as quite a few cars, passing by the recumbent body without offering any aid.

She raises her head briefly, but seems unable to move otherwise.

About a minute later, she is brutally run over by both sets of wheels of another car:

The video ends with the driver stopping and exiting her car, then approaching the victim on the floor.

Facebook users attribute this widespread apathy to the proliferation of scams in China, where many swindlers victimise themselves in order to claim insurance or sue the alleged perpetrator.

According to a report in The Shanghailist, though, both drivers have since been detained by the police.
