Don Quijote , a Japanese mega store loved by Japanese people and tourists alike, is set to open its first South-East Asian store in Singapore, most likely in the Orchard area.

Known rather affectionally as "Donki" in Japan, there are more than 300 Don Quijote stores throughout Japan, with many of them open 24/7.

The store has become a must-visit spot for tourists in recent years, as it is popular for its discounted prices, tax-refund services and multilingual displays.

The store offers a plethora of items of just about any kind -- from cosmetics, furniture, food products, alcohol, luxury goods, home appliances and even quirky costumes and R-rated items (although we're sure we won't see these in Singapore).

The closest comparison to the discount chain store in Singapore would be Mustafa Centre.

Something else that Don Quijote is famous for -- its song.  The Don Quijote song is so popular, it has even inspired fan-produced animated music videos.

But that's hardly surprising coming from Japan where there are jingles and cute mascots for everything from salmon to prefectures.

More details about the store in Singapore and opening date will be released at a later date.
