Nee Soon Town Council has issued a statement in response to the article about two households at Block 112 Yishun Ring Road erecting a wall to keep out another neighbour who has allegedly been harassing them.

This is the NSTC statement:

We refer to your article dated 3 May 2017 "Someone in Yishun has finally built a wall. Along the corridor. To keep out pesky neighbour."

We like to highlight that the Town Council and other authorities have been working with our resident involved in this case and our resident has been in constant communication with us.

We have in correspondences, shared that we are, as a collective, looking at possible enforcement actions that can be taken. We have also shared the limits by statute on enforcement actions that the Town Council can take for such behaviours. In addition, we had suggested alternative mediation and legal options.

The National Environment Agency is now investigating the matter. They have arranged to interview the relevant parties to obtain their statements. It is important that all parties cooperate during the investigation period.

We like to also remind our residents that obstructions along the common corridor constitute both a fire and safety hazard, and should be removed.
