The team of Singaporean chefs who struck historic gold at this year's Culinary Olympics are home, and just like our other Olympian gold medallists, they arrived to their own hero's welcome:
Parliamentary Secretary for the Ministries of Education and Trade and Industry Low Yen Ling showed up to say hi too:

We also learned that the team of chefs (yes, six grown men) came up with their own so-Singaporean cheer, in English, Chinese and Hokkien:

Their surprise from SQ
Happily, they weren't neglected by Singapore Airlines. The team flew home from Germany on flight SQ25, which landed at 6:50am Friday:
Here's a close-up of the cake they received:
According to their Facebook post, the cake was prepared by Chef Rick Stephen. They say they "thoroughly enjoyed it" — we suppose the gold sculpture's a pretty nice touch — but we imagine at least one of them wouldn't have been able to resist contemplating, even for a moment, how they could've done it better.
We also like what they said, tongue-in-cheek:
No bonus miles given (yet) unlike Schooling, though we hope one day the National Culinary Team will be given equivalent welcome as our national athletes. :)
Y'all are most definitely paving the way for that.
In case this is the first you're hearing of Singapore's historic victory at the Culinary Olympics:
