This teacher gets it.

It is no hyperbole to say that Pokemon Go has become a sort of cultural phenomenon, with scenes like this becoming commonplace throughout Singapore.

It can be tough for teachers to keep their students interested when there are augmented monsters all around.

It is even more difficult to craft out a legitimate threat to scare them straight.

Credible threats

But a teacher in Republic Polytechnic seems to have experienced enough Pokemon Go to come up with credible threats to counter the metaphorical and literal lure of the game.

Instead of doling out generic threats like "I will confiscate your phone", the teacher went a step further.

She probably drew inspiration from a Texan college instructor who had problems with Pokemon Go, and had come up with these rules.

Republic

For those who cannot view the image, here are the threats.

The punishment escalates depending on the number of times the student is caught playing Pokemon Go in class.

1st offense

I will take your phone from you and WASTE all your Pokeballs.

Probably on a Pidgey or a Rattata. But I will miss. Over and over and over...

2nd offense

I will use your incense and a lucky egg.

Pokemon might be surrounding you, but you're out of ways to catch them.

3rd offense

I will transfer your highest level and rarest Pokemon! Maybe even 2... or 3 of them.

1 candy in exchange for a 1453 CP Dragonite... Seems fair.

Ending message

The last part of the threat delves a bit deeper into the teacher's psyche though, and perhaps explains the harshness of the rules.

If I can't catch them, you can't catch them!
