For those who consider themselves to be highly-regarded Pokemon trainers in their own minds, you can safely ignore the contents of this article.

For the rest of you who are keeping up to speed, you can take note.

Since Pokemon Go was launched overseas and slowly made its way to Singapore debuting on Aug. 6, the game has evolved within a span of a few weeks and some features affecting the game play have been updated.

Therefore, many of the tips you can read about online put out by foreign media outlets before August are outdated.

And the local articles written before Singapore's official launch usually contain information that has not been updated accordingly.

So, in the interest of keeping everyone abreast of the latest developments and if you're still in the exploratory stages of trying to be a Pokemon trainer as you jab about on your app, here are some tips for mastering Pokemon Go:

1. The bottom right "nearby" function no longer includes footsteps to indicate distance. The game's developer Niantic decided to wipe it out with its update.

2. Also gone with the update is the in-game battery saver mode, though it no longer appears to be glitchy when the iPhone is set to "low power mode".

3. The option to transfer your Pokemon no longer lies at the bottom of each individual Pokemon's page, but on the bottom right button instead.

4. Use a razz berry to subdue a Pokemon slightly in order to make the capture process less wasteful and less tedious.

5. Each time you squeeze a Pokemon into a gym, go to your profile and collect coins from the top right hand corner.
