The Housing and Development Board (HDB) has come out to explain the actions of a parking warden who allegedly obstructed traffic with his motorcycle by parking it in the middle of the road in Tiong Bahru.

HDB said in its Facebook post on Aug. 31, 2016:

In this case, the parking enforcement officer had parked his motorbike next to an illegally parked car so he could carry out enforcement action. The video circulating online showed the events that occurred after the driver had driven off, giving the impression that the enforcement officer’s bike was parked in the middle of the road.

However, the HDB also acknowledged that the officer should have moved his motorcycle away immediately after advising the illegally parked cars to move in such a situation.

HDB's statement came a day after a post by Zachary Lee alleged that a parking warden, whom he thought was from the Land Transport Authority, parked his motorcycle in the middle of Seng Poh Road on Tuesday, Aug. 30 morning.

Lee also claimed that the warden responded in a rude and threatening manner when asked by stallholders at Tiong Bahru Market to move his vehicle.

HDB eventually apologised for the inconvenience caused arising from this incident and have asked the car park operator to improve their enforcement process.
