The Land Transport Authority has apologised over an altercation between one of its enforcement officers and a member of the public in a statement posted on its Facebook page on Sunday, July 3, evening,:

The incident occurred on June 23 at Yio Chu Kang MRT taxi stand.

A video posted on Facebook on July 2 showed a woman, who is most likely a member of the public and the one doing the filming, putting the LTA enforcement officer in his place by reminding him that he is working for the government and should not be acting in a rash manner:

The woman had stepped forward to intervene after a verbal altercation could be seen happening between a car driver and the LTA officer.

The driver and LTA officer were speaking in dialect, with one of them remarking in Hokkien: “I will beat you up”.

Halfway through the video, the LTA officer was seen opening the car door but was stopped by the woman, who said: “You’re working for the government, you don’t behave this way.”

The LTA officer then explained himself: “He want to hammer me, ask him to come out.”

Last November, an LTA enforcement officer was filmed fighting with an Uber driver at the Bugis Junction taxi stand.

The LTA officer, Tan Hock Guan, 51, was later jailed for a day and fined a total of $2,000.
