Singaporean national swimmer Quah Ting Wen successfully defended her title in the women's 100m freestyle at the 32nd SEA Games in Cambodia.

The 30-year-old clocked 55:83 in the finals on Monday (May 8) evening, which is slower than her timing in the finals of the same event at the 31st SEA Games in Hanoi.

This is her fifth consecutive gold in the event at the Games.

Earlier in the day, Quah finished first in the heats, with a time of 56.78s.

Her younger sister, Quah Jing Wen, was supposed to participate in the same event.

However, she did not start in the heats to "focus on her other events", the Singapore National Olympic Council (SNOC) said on its Instagram page.

Both Quah sisters were part of the team that bagged Singapore's 1,000th gold medal at the Games after clinching first place in the women's 4x100m freestyle relay on May 6.
