Editor’s note, Apr. 6 12:30am: Xiaxue has reached out to Mothership to clarify that she and Sayre are currently separated, but are not yet divorced.

Singaporean blogger Wendy Cheng, also known as Xiaxue, has announced that she will be divorcing her husband of over a decade, Mike Sayre.

She shared the news in an Apr. 5 Instagram post, in which she revealed that they have been “separated for a long time now”.

The split

They were together for 17 years, and got married in 2010. She gave birth to their son, Dashiel — nicknamed Dash — in 2013.

Explaining that it took a “long time” to come to the decision, Xiaxue said that she had a “good run with loads of love, happiness and memories” with her ex.

Will co-parent son with ex

Xiaxue said that she and Sayre’s focus will be to co-parent their son while “continuing to support each other as [they] move forward with their separate lives”.

She wished Sayre “nothing but happiness” as she said she “never regretted picking” him.

Xiaxue has asked her followers for privacy, and wrote:

“Separation is difficult, but it’s so much worse when you have to tell it to so many people - about a decision that technically has nothing to do with them.”
