For those who don't know yet, Korean fried chicken chain BHC Chicken will be opening its first Singapore outlet at Marina Square on Apr. 26.

The 108-seater outlet will offer an assortment of fried chicken dishes on its menu.

The eatery is not halal-certified.

First impressions

If there was one food I could eat for the rest of my life, it would be Korean fried chicken.

So when I heard that yet another Korean fried chicken chain was coming to Singapore, you could say I was over the moon.

Fortunately, I had the pleasure of trying some of BHC Chicken's famed items for work.

When I visited the fried chicken establishment on Apr. 21, the hoarding was still up.

Here's a look at some of the food options:

Although the menu is not as complete as the one in Korea, most of its signature selection will be available.

Bburinkle (from S$23.90)

One of BHC's more renowned items is their Bburinklechicken.

Coated in a cheesy and vegetable seasoning, this unique fried chicken dish is a crowd favourite.

As someone who isn’t a huge fan of cheesy savouries, I went in not expecting to like it.

However, I was pleasantly surprised after taking a bite.

Not only was the chicken extremely crispy and tender — a huge plus point in itself — it also didn’t have a greasy aftertaste.

Crispy.

The cheesy seasoning also served as a good complement to the chicken's salted flavour.

But alas, the dish started to feel a bit jelak after a few bites, maybe due to the amount of seasoning on it.

However, I still see myself coming back solely for the chicken. With friends, of course.

Would recommend washing this down with a glass of booze for an authentic Korean dining experience.

Verdict: 4/5

Macho King (from S$23.90)

In addition to the Bburinkle, you can also opt for other fried chicken options like the Macho King.

Covered in aged soy sauce and a honey-based sauce, I would describe this as a less sugary version of kung pao chicken (it's still sweet, just not as sticky).

Although it was cold by the time all of us were done with taking photos of it, I was impressed at how the chicken managed to retain its crunchy texture.

Personally, I'm not a huge fan of how much sauce was lathered on it as it lacks a certain level of satisfaction when you don't hear the crunch of a perfectly fried piece of chook.

Verdict: 3/5

Other fried chicken options include Retro (from S$21.90), which is plain ol fried chicken, Gold King (S$31.90 for a whole chicken), fried chicken slathered in soy sauce, sweet honey and garlic, along with Hot Bburinkle (S$31.90 for a whole chicken), which, like its name suggests, is the spicy version of the Bburinkle chicken.
