2 men, 24 & 26, arrested after over 1,700 counterfeit footwear worth over S$370,000 found in Bishan & Yishun

Two men in Singapore have been arrested for their suspected involvement in the sale of counterfeit products.

Seized over 1,700 worth over S$370,000

The men, aged 24 and 26, were arrested after officers from the Criminal Investigation Department found and seized more than 1,700 pairs of footwear with purported trademark infringements at Bishan Street 23 and Yishun Ring Road during enforcement operations on Apr. 15, 2023.

The Singapore Police Force (SPF) said in its Apr. 19 news release that the footwear have an estimated street value of more than S$370,000.

Distribution and sale of counterfeit goods are serious offences

SPF said:

"The police take a serious view of intellectual property rights infringement and would like to remind the public that the distribution and sale of counterfeit goods are serious offences.

The police will not hesitate to take tough action against perpetrators who profit at the expense of legitimate businesses and consumers."

If convicted, the offence of possession of goods with falsely applied trademarks for the purpose of trade carries a fine of up to S$100,000, jail up to five years, or both.
