In case you missed it, McDonald's Singapore recently dropped a trendy bit of merch.

The McGriddles-inspired puffer bag was distributed at the Canberra outlet on Mar. 9, for free with each purchase of a Breakfast McGriddles 2x Value Meal.

The catch: there were only 200 bags available.

Exciting.

Go early to queue

TikTok user Key (@kellwt) posted a video of her experience redeeming the free bag.

According to the video, she woke up at 5:49am to catch an early bus down to the Canberra outlet.

She joined the queue at 6:39am, during which there were already a fair number of people in line.

Everybody was waiting patiently, and the McDonald's staff even handed out cups of water, she explained in her video.

She added that most of the queuers appeared to be university students — "other than the auntie and uncles", of course.

Despite some anxiety about whether she would be part of the lucky 200 diners, she eventually did get a queue number: 115.

"Couldn't stop staring at my queue number in disbelief," she said. "I'm such a lucky lucky girl that the buses and people behind came at the time they did."

The queue began to move at 7:01am, and the staff began turning people away after the 200th person, Key said.

She eventually placed her order and managed to get the elusive item at 7:30am — just under an hour's wait.

"I was dead tired when I got home and slept for a good three hours lol," she captioned the video.

Scalpers everywhere

McDonald's has confirmed on their website that the bags have been fully redeemed.

So as with most limited-edition McDonald's merch, plenty of listings have appeared on online marketplace Carousell, with sellers offering to let go of the bags at significant mark-ups.

Oh well.
