Indonesian President Joko Widodo - commonly known as Jokowi - will be visiting Singapore on Mar. 16 to attend the Singapore-Indonesia Leaders’ Retreat with Prime Minister Lee Hsien Loong.

This will be PM Lee’s sixth Leaders’ Retreat with President Joko Widodo. The previous Leaders’ Retreat was held in Bintan, Indonesia in January 2022.

Jokowi and his Indonesian delegation will be hosted to an official lunch by PM Lee.

Cooperation frameworks

The leaders will be reviewing the significant progress made in bilateral cooperation since the last Retreat, such as the ratification of the three agreements under the Expanded Framework.

They are expected to discuss strengthening the bilateral partnership in forward-looking areas across the economic, socio-cultural and security spheres.

MOUs

PM Lee and Jokowi will be witnessing the exchange of several Memorandums of Understanding (MOU) signed ahead of the Retreat.

These will include those in emerging areas such as energy, sustainability, health, and human capital development, as well as in traditional areas like security.

During the Retreat, the leaders would also exchange views on regional and global developments.

Deputy Prime Minister and Finance Minister Lawrence Wong and Senior Minister and Coordinating Minister for National Security Teo Chee Hean and other Cabinet Ministers will also be involved.
