According to CNA, Singaporean gaming chair company Secretlab will be hiring more than 100 employees in Singapore to fuel its growth, its co-founder Alaric Choo announced on Monday (Aug. 31) at the opening of its new headquarters in Braddell.

A company spokesperson said that Secretlab has recently reached 200 employees, and is looking to expand its product development team.

Aims to get "cream of the crop" from universities here

During the tour of the new headquarters, Choo, who is also chief strategy officer, said that Secretlab is in talks with universities here to develop a programme to attract the "cream of the crop" to join Secretlab.

Currently, Secretlab relies heavily on referrals and will approach professionals with relevant experiences on LinkedIn to fill positions in the company.

The company is looking for roughly 80 engineers and designers to join its product development team, as well as to fill roles in marketing, public relations and global operations, according to CNA.

Choo, however, said that he "feels quite strongly against" launching internship programmes in his company at the moment.

Secretlab "a proud Singaporean company"

Choo said that the decision to set up their new headquarters in Singapore "sends a strong message" that Secretlab is a "proud Singaporean company".

According to The Straits Times (ST), 90 per cent of its employees are Singaporean.

A "vast majority" of Secretlab's new hires will be stationed in Singapore, while some will be based in their China factory.

Ian Ang, co-founder and CEO, said that Secretlab has invested S$10 million in setting up the new headquarters and research and development (R&D) centre, reported ST.

Secretlab will continue to invest S$50 million over the next few years into R&D to improve product development and innovation.

In 2019, Secretlab received funding from Heliconia Capital, a Temasek Holdings subsidiary, valuing the company at more than S$200 million.

According to EdgeProp, the company now has a valuation of about S$2 billion.
