The family of a missing 78-year-old man is appealing to the Singapore public for help.

Last heard from missing man three days ago

A public appeal for information on the missing man was put up on Facebook on Aug. 28 at 8:49pm by the man's daughter-in-law, Ah Joy.

According to the woman, her father-in-law, Soh Eng Thong, or Ah Gu, had left his house at 8pm on Aug. 27 to attend a funeral.

But Soh did not tell her the location of the funeral, nor who he was meeting.

Joy said Soh called her around 9am on Saturday, Aug. 28, more than 12 hours after he had left home on Friday night, and said in his last update that he was at SingPost's taxi stand.

However, the line got cut off abruptly.

Joy said she had tried to call Soh again, but to no avail, and was redirected to the voicemail.

That was the last time Joy said she heard from the senior man.

In her latest Facebook update at 8:46am on Aug. 30, almost three days after the interrupted phone call, Joy wrote that she still has no news of her missing father-in-law.

Joy believes that Soh not eaten, nor slept, since he left his house at Block 10 Haig Road on Friday, Aug. 27.

Soh's details and how to help

According to Joy, her missing elderly father-in-law is petite at 145cm to 150cm in height.

His skin is tanned and has short white hair.

In addition, Soh has black scars on his left leg, due to an infection. He also has an existing prostatitis medical condition.

Joy said Soh might be either wearing a shirt with brown buttons, or a dark blue polo t-shirt with short sleeves, together with shorts. Soh also uses a walking stick.

According to Joy, she has searched the shopping malls in Paya Lebar, the HDB blocks at Haig Road, and areas at Bedok, Joo Chiat, Toa Payoh, Bukit Ho Swee, and Chai Chee to no avail.

She said she has also filed a police report.

In response to Mothership's queries, a Singapore Police Force spokesperson confirmed that a report has been lodged, and said that the police are "looking into the matter".

Mothership has reached out to Joy for more information.
