M'sia reports 22,242 Covid-19 cases on Aug. 18, new daily record

This is the eighth time that the number of cases has surpassed 20,000.

Malaysia has reported a new record number of Covid-19 infections today (Aug. 18), with a total of 22,242 cases.

Previous record was six days ago

The previous record high was on Aug. 12, with 21,668 cases of Covid-19 reported in a day.

This is also the eighth time Malaysia has recorded over 20,000 daily cases in August.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country is now 1,466,512.

Nine states reported four-digit figures

According to Malaysia's Ministry of Health, nine states reported four-digit figures today:

  • Selangor (6,858 cases)
  • Sabah (2,413 cases)
  • Penang (1,867 cases)
  • Kedah (1,852 cases)
  • Kuala Lumpur (1,587 cases)
  • Johor (1,477 cases)
  • Serawak (1,403 cases)
  • Kelantan (1,351 cases)
  • Perak (1,036 cases)
