M'sia reports over 21,000 Covid-19 cases on Aug. 12, new daily record

Malaysia reported a record number of Covid-19 infections today (Aug. 12), with a total of 21,668 cases.

The previous record high was on Aug. 6, with 20,889 cases.

This is also the fourth time Malaysia has recorded over 20,000 daily cases, according to The Edge Markets.

The total number of Covid-19 cases in the country is now 1,342,215.

Seven states reported four-digit figures

According to Malaysia's Ministry of Health, seven states reported four-digit figures today:

  • Selangor (6,278 cases)
  • Kuala Lumpur (2,436)
  • Kedah (2,143)
  • Sabah (2,052)
  • Johor (1,706)
  • Penang (1,229)
  • Sarawak (1,216)

This was followed by Kelantan (972), Perak (930), Negeri Sembilan (899), Pahang (629), Terengganu (594), Melaka (494), Putrajaya (56), Perlis (23), and Labuan (11).
