Indonesian badminton players Greysia Polii and Apriyani Rahayu will be returning home from the Tokyo Olympic Games with a gold medal.

In addition, the duo will also receive a slew of gifts, including a new house, cows, as well as an Indonesian meatball outlet.

The pair bagged Indonesia's first Olympic gold medal after defeating China's Chen Qingchen and Jia Yifan during the women's badminton doubles on Monday (Aug. 2).

They marked a historic win after defeating the Chinese team 21-19 and 21-15, securing the country's first gold medal at Tokyo.

Treated to a vacation

The district head of Apriyani's hometown on Sulawesi island has promised her five cows and a house once she returns home.

These gifts are on top of a Rp. 5 billion (S$471,000) cash award injected by the government, Reuters reported.

Indonesia's Minister of Tourism and Creative Economy, Sandiaga Uno said that the duo will also be treated to a vacation at six "super priority destinations" including Lake Toba and Borobudur, Liputan 6 reported.

The report added that the minister hoped that with the duo's popularity, it will boost tourism at these locations.

Each will own a Bakso outlet

A popular Indonesian meatball (Bakso) chain Baso Aci Akang, will also be rewarding the duo an outlet each once they return home from Tokyo.
