68 active clusters, including new clusters at Toa Payoh and Punggol bus interchanges
Three new clusters were identified in today's update, while another three have closed.
There are currently 68 active clusters, ranging between three and 1,155 infections.
MOH said it is investigating two separate workplace clusters amongst individuals who work in Punggol Bus Interchange and Toa Payoh Bus Interchange.
A total of 11 cases are currently linked to Punggol Bus Interchange, comprising 10 staff working in the Interchange and a household contact of a staff.
25 cases are currently linked to Toa Payoh Bus Interchange, all of whom are staff working in the Interchange.
MOH said that all staff of both interchanges will be tested for Covid-19, and all close contacts of the cases will be placed on quarantine.
Bugis Junction cluster
A cluster of 20 cases of Covid-19 infection amongst individuals who work in Bugis Junction (200 Victoria Street) was first reported on Aug. 24.
A total of 104 cases are currently linked to the cluster, after a further 40 cases were linked to the cluster earlier today.
The department store is now closed to the public until Aug. 30 (inclusive), to break any potential chain of transmission and enable deep cleaning of the premises.
Overall increase in community cases
Overall, the number of new cases in the community has increased from 290 cases in the week before to 405 cases in the past week.
The number of unlinked cases in the community has increased from 78 cases in the week before to 126 cases in the past week.
The seven-day moving average number of all linked community cases and all unlinked community cases are 39.9 and 18.0 respectively.
Condition of hospitalised cases
343 cases are currently warded in hospital. There are currently 17 cases of serious illness requiring oxygen supplementation, and seven in critical condition in the intensive care unit.
Of those who have fallen very ill, 20 are seniors above 60 years, of whom 16 are completely unvaccinated or partially vaccinated.
According to MOH, there is continuing evidence that almost all fully vaccinated individuals do not suffer serious disease when infected, unless they had underlying medical conditions that made them more susceptible.
Over the last 28 days, the percentage of unvaccinated who became severely ill or died is 9.7 per cent, while that for the fully vaccinated is 1.4 per cent.
79 per cent of population completed full regimen of Covid-19 vaccine
As of August 25, a total of 8,633,769 doses of Covid-19 vaccines have been administered under the national vaccination programme (Pfizer-BioNTech Comirnaty and Moderna).
This covers 4,490,780 individuals, with 4,270,547 individuals having completed the full vaccination regimen.
In addition, 162,307 doses of other vaccines recognised in the World Health Organisation’s Emergency Use Listing (WHO EUL) have been administered as of August 25, 2021, covering 85,325 individuals.
In total, 79 per cent of Singapore's population have completed their full regimen or received two doses of Covid-19 vaccines, and 83 percent have received at least one dose.
