Covid-19 cases detected in 5 more primary schools & 1 secondary school, HBL from July 26 for some

Eight confirmed Covid-19 cases in total.

Covid-19 cases have been detected in another five primary schools and one secondary school in Singapore, according to Chinese media Lianhe Zaobao and 8World.

Xingnan Primary School

Lianhe Zaobao reported that two students from the same class had tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter issued to parents and guardians with children from Xingnan Primary School, it was stated that two Primary 5 students were confirmed to have the virus on July 23 and July 24 morning.

The first student who tested positive was last in school on July 21.

The other student had last been in school on July 23, and left school early after feeling unwell.

Staff and students who have been identified as close contacts have already been placed on leave of absence (LOA).

The school will be carrying out home-based learning (HBL) for all students from Monday, July 26. Primary 1 to 3 students will be placed on HBL for one week, while Primary 4 to 6 students will be on HBL for two weeks.

Henry Park Primary School

On July 22, a Primary 1 student from Henry Park Primary School was confirmed to have tested positive for Covid-19, according to Lianhe Zaobao.

All staff and students who were identified as close contacts have been placed on LOA from July 23 to August 5.

The school will carry out HBL for all Primary 1 students from July 26 to July 30.

Rulang Primary School

On July 24, a Primary 5 student from Rulang Primary School also tested positive for Covid-19.

8World reported the student is a family member of a previously confirmed Covid-19 case.

He had last been in school on July 21, where he was well.

All students and staff who were in close contact have been placed on LOA from July 24 to August 4.

As an extra precaution, the school has also been closed to facilitate cleaning and disinfection this weekend.

No HBL for the students was mentioned in media reports.

Pei Chun Public School

According to Zaobao, two students from Pei Chun Public School had also tested positive for Covid-19.

In a letter addressed to parents and guardians with students from Pei Chun Public School, it was mentioned that the two students were in Primary 3 and 6 respectively.

The two cases are unlinked.

According to the letter, both students had last been in school on July 16.

As the Primary 6 student is a family member of a previously confirmed case, the student had already been placed on quarantine.

The school further clarified that as both students had not been in school premises during the period of infection, physical classes would continue as per normal.

However, all staff and students identified as close contacts will have to undergo Covid-19 testing.

Horizon Primary School

After a staff member was found to have tested positive for Covid-19, a Primary 3 student has also tested positive for the virus.

According to a letter issued to all parents and guardians with children from the school, the two cases are unlinked.

8World reported the student had last been in school on July 21, and had been well.

All Primary 3 students will be placed on HBL from July 26 to 30.

Yuying Secondary School

According to 8World, a Secondary 1 student from Yuying Secondary School had also tested positive for Covid-19.

He had last been in school on July 22, and had been well.

To ensure the safety of all staff and students, HBL will be carried out for all Secondary 1 students from July 26 to July 28.
