This year's National Day Parade (NDP) will have a physical event, complete with spectators at The Float @ Marina Bay.
Minister for Defence Ng Eng Hen announced that the number of participants and spectators will be "scaled down appropriately", although the final figure will be decided at a later date.
All participants will be vaccinated
According to CNA, spectators above the age of 12, who are eligible for the national vaccination programme must be fully vaccinated before attending the event.
They must also undergo pre-event Covid-19 testing.
All NDP 2021 participants have also been vaccinated against Covid-19, and are routinely tested before each rehearsal in separate groups.
There will only be one preview show before the main event.
Ng also advised those who are not vaccinated to watch the heartland activities at home, and to avoid crowds, reported CNA.
NDP 2020 was held indoors
Last year's NDP was significantly scaled down, due to the Covid-19 outbreak.
Instead of the usual large-scale parade, it was split into a morning show at the Padang, and an evening show at Star Vista.
The evening show had only 150 spectators attending, including the President, Prime Minister, some members of Parliament and representatives of society, including frontline workers.
It was also the first time that the show was conducted indoors.
