The legendary Ah Pui Tiong Bahru pushcart satay has opened a new shop in Chinatown at 28 Smith Street.
News of the shop's opening was put up on social media on June 21.
Details of its impending opening were teased a few weeks back in early June -- but apparently, went unnoticed.
The new shop, Ah Pui Tiong Bahru Satay, has dine-in seating.Business officially started on June 15, but was limited to takeaway orders only due to the Phase 2 (Heightened Alert) measures.
Based on at least one comment on the Facebook post, it appeared that the owners were rushing to get the shop up and running.
Chance to try Ah Pui's satay
The opening of a new standalone shop would come as a relief for fans of Ah Pui's satay.
Customers are known to have made reservations at least six months in advance previously just to get a chance to buy and taste the famous hand-prepared grilled meat on wooden skewers.
With this new shop opening, it appears the need to wait months just to eat Ah Pui's satay has been obliterated.
Previously, it was reported that the long wait list for the satay was due to the satay master personally seeing to the meat's preparation, from cutting to cooking to selling.
This results in uneven cuts of meat interspersed with generous servings of fat, but adds to the artisanal flavour.
The new shop opens from 11:30am to 10:30pm daily.
The kitchen closes at 9pm.

Background
Ah Pui, who really is 63-year-old Ang Boon Ee, has been making and selling satay for more than 50 years.
He would push his illegal pushcart in Tiong Bahru and a crowd would show up to surround him to buy his fare.
This occurred as recent as the early 2010s.
His illegal hawking got him into trouble with the law though.
Ah Pui was then persuaded to move into 195 Pearl Hill Cafe.
Ang's legendary status has continued to grow in this social media age, with many young people in Singapore hearing for the first time about a real-life street vendor who is still going strong and even expanding his grilled meat business.
