The woman who refused to wear her mask at Marina Bay Sands was actually caught in 2020 for a similar offence.

Documents seen by Mothership revealed that the 53-year-old was charged for failing to wear her mask on May 8, 2020 at Newton Hawker Centre.

For contravening the Covid-19 (Temporary Measures) (Control Order) Regulations 2020, she can be fined up to S$10,000 or jailed for up to six months.

The woman pleaded not guilty, Lianhe Wanbao reported, and will return to court on May 24, 2021.

Talked back to SDA

Videos of the maskless woman talking back to a Safe Distancing Ambassador (SDA) at MBS circulated online recently.

When asked to wear her mask, the woman questioned if the SDA had a badge and demanded to know, "Who are you representing?"

Since then, numerous photos of the woman at various venues without a mask on have popped up online.

The police were alerted to the incident at MBS on May 15, and are working with MBS to investigate the incident.

The woman's elderly father, surnamed Phoon, spoke to Chinese paper Shin Min Daily News and purportedly shed some light on the woman's behaviour

He said that the woman used to be a Navy officer who later joined a private company and was deployed to China for work.

However, the elder Phoon noticed a drastic change in the woman's temperament after she returned to Singapore more than 10 years ago.

He added that the woman used to be kind and charitable.
