Over the years, Waterloo Street have traditionally been packed with devotees who wish to seek blessings at Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple during Chinese New Year period.
This year, due to Covid-19 situation, the temple has cancelled its annual incense offering event.
It will also be closed on the first three days of Chinese New Year to avoid crowding.
Reopens on Feb. 15
The temple will be opening at 7am on Feb. 11 and closing at 6:30pm.
It will reopen on Feb. 15, the fourth day of the Chinese New Year.
In previous years, the temple would remain open until late on the eve of the Lunar New Year.
Kwan Im Thong Hood Cho Temple was built in 1884 and is one of the oldest Buddhist temples in Singapore.
It has been a popular place of worship for devotees of Guan Yin, the Chinese goddess of mercy.
