Haidilao founder's family is about to buy a bungalow at Gallop Road in Singapore.

According to the Business Times, this bungalow is right next to the family's existing villa.

The founder of Haidilao is Zhang Yong. BT added that the Zhang's son was granted the option to purchase the bungalow at the price of S$42 million in December 2020.

The site has a freehold land area of 21,647 sq ft. This is roughly the size of 21 four-room BTO flats, which are around 1,000 sq ft.

BT calculated that this price works out to S$1,940 per square foot (psf)

This is more than what the family paid for their existing villa next door, The Winged House, which cost S$1,700 psf.

The Winged House sits on 15,884 sq ft of freehold land, which is about the size of 15 4-room BTO flats.

Zhang and his wife Shu Ping are co-founders of Haidilao.

Zhang has been ranked Singapore's richest for two years straight, with a net worth of S$26 billion in August 2020.

The couple and their son, who is said to be in his early 20s, are Singapore citizens.
