A four-women brawl that went viral on social media, has resulted in the arrest of three women between the ages of 32 and 55, with another three individuals under investigation.

Responding to queries from Mothership, the Singapore Police Force said the incident took place on Oct. 20 at about 1:45pm in the vicinity of Block 13 Marine Terrace.

A pair of officers arriving on the scene observed two groups of people — totalling 11 individuals — in a heated dispute, with members of one group seen approaching the other in an aggressive manner.

One officer took an individual aside to engage separately, while the other attempted to calm and separate the rest.

However, a scuffle still erupted amongst the groups despite repeated advice and intervention by one of the officers at the scene.

Both officers were able to break up the scuffle eventually.

Six other police officers arrived within minutes to provide assistance.

Three arrested, three under investigation

Preliminary investigations found that two female teenagers from opposing groups, aged 14 and 15, were known to each other.

The other individuals present at the incident were their respective family members and friends.

The dispute had arisen because of offensive remarks exchanged between the members of the group one day prior on Oct. 19.

Three women, aged between 32 and 55, were arrested for affray at the scene, while the two teenagers and a 38-year-old man are currently under investigation.

Police have reminded the public that they are advised to heed the instruction of police officers and not take the law into their own hands.

The offence of affray under Section 267A of the Penal Code carries a jail term of up to one year, a fine of up to S$5,000, or both.
