New Sengkang Member of Parliament (MP) Jamus Lim said that he was banned from "using a particular phrase in [his] expressions" in a video by Tatler Singapore.

In the video, the designated MP for Anchorvale toured Sengkang, showing off five highlights in his ward.

These included: Sengkang Riverside Park, Anchorvale Cove, a vending machine cafe, Anchorvale community club, and Armenian Street Char Kway Teow.

Banned from saying "cockles"

In one section of the video, Lim chows down on a plate of Char Kway Teow.

He cheekily said as he was eating: "Well, obviously Char Kway Teow is characterised a lot by the presence of certain kinds of shellfish. I've been banned from using a particular phrase in my expressions."

This is in reference to the moment in the GE2020 debate where he first used the phrase "warm the cockles in my heart" in response to comments about education and social mobility.

He also used it at least one more time during his thank you speech, where he said: "It warms the cockles of our hearts to be able to work for Singaporeans."
