Tesla may finally be coming to Singapore — that is if the electric vehicle manufacturer's latest job adverts are anything to do by.
The company's LinkedIn profile now has listings for five roles based in Singapore, for which Tesla are "actively recruiting".
This includes:
- Parts Advisor
- Service Advisor
- Service Manager
- Vehicle Readiness Specialist
- Vehicle Service Technician
Each job listing comes with a detailed job description, with the five roles centring on the functions of customer relations and vehicle repair and service.
"Singapore government is not supportive"
If the American car manufacturer does set up shop in Singapore, it would represent a U-turn of sorts.
Chief executive officer Elon Musk has previously tweeted in 2019 about Singapore's government being unwelcoming to his company.
He was responding to a question about the electric car's absence from the city-state.
Govt has been unwelcome

About six months prior, Musk had responded to a similar query about Singapore, saying:
"We tried, but Singapore government is not supportive of electric vehicles (sic)."
Singapore response
In an interview on Aug. 21, 2019, minister for environment and water resources Masagos Zulkifli subsequently retaliated by describing Musk's Tesla cars as lifestyle assets, and that "what Elon Musk wants to produce is a lifestyle".
He added that electric vehicles are not Singapore's solution to climate-related issues, according to Bloomberg: "We are not interested in a lifestyle. We are interested in proper solutions that will address climate problems."
Masagos clarified that electric vehicles were currently not the solution the government was looking for.
Instead, Singapore would be focusing on mass transit to tackle the problem of carbon emissions in our warming climate.
