Kumar Appavoo, who is the Reform Party (RP) candidate for Radin Mas SMC, recently drew attention for not turning up to record his constituency broadcast.

The RP's Ang Mo Kio GRC team similarly did not turn up in full for their broadcast.

To make things more confusing, photos have turned up online that show pamphlets depicting Kumar campaigning under the Progress Singapore Party (PSP) banner, shortly before Nomination Day.

Kumar allegedly campaigned in Radin Mas under PSP shortly before the election

Mothership reader and supposed resident of Radin Mas SMC shared an image of the pamphlet, which was allegedly given to him nine days before Nomination Day.

According to the reader, he was "happy and looking forward" to Kumar representing the PSP, but was surprised when he was announced as the RP candidate for Radin Mas SMC on Nomination Day.

The reader also said that he was confused as to his sudden change in political party and policy affiliations, and claimed that the "final straw" was when he failed to turn up for the televised constituency broadcast.

On Kumar's personal Facebook page, members of the public can be seen sharing similar images, asking him about his sudden change in party affiliations.

Kumar shared images of him representing RP as early as June 28 on his Facebook page, although no earlier posts can be found on his page.

Kumar was revealed as RP's candidate for Radin Mas SMC on Nomination Day (June 30), although he was not one of the candidates introduced by RP on June 15.

He was first mentioned by RP's Facebook page on July 5, when RP shared photos of his walkabout in Radin Mas SMC.

Mothership has contacted both the Reform Party and the Progress Singapore Party for comment.

Kumar also contested in Radin Mas SMC in 2015 under RP

This is not the first time Kumar contested in Radin Mas SMC.

In 2015, he engaged in a three-cornered fight against PAP's Sam Tan, and independent candidate Han Hui Hui, representing RP.

He received 12.71 per cent of the votes, allowing him to keep his election deposit, while Tan won with 77.25 per cent of the votes.

Han, who only received 10.04 per cent of the votes, forfeited her S$14,500 deposit.
