More people in Singapore discover the beauty of nature as they look out of their windows from home, or heading to nature parks to exercise during this period.

Besides natural phenomena like iridescent clouds and rainbows, the movement of clouds and their changes have captured the attention of people in Singapore.

Dark clouds in Yishun

A resident at Yishun, Michelle Chun, took photos of a dramatic sight in the skies in the afternoon of June 4 before a downpour.

At around 6:00pm, Meteorological Service Singapore issued a heavy rain warning for northern and western areas in Singapore.

Heavy rain warning - Heavy thundery showers with gusty wind are expected over northern and western areas of Singapore between 6.15pm and 6.50pm. PUB says flash floods may occur in the event of heavy rain.

The rainy weather persisted in north east and central Singapore at around 9:30pm.

Heavy rain warning - Moderate to heavy thundery showers with gusty wind are expected to continue over northern eastern and central areas of Singapore between 9.00pm and 9.45pm. PUB says flash floods may occur in the event of heavy rain.

Thundery showers in June

The first half of June was forecasted to be wet and humid.

Residents in Singapore can expect moderate to heavy thundery showers between the late morning and afternoon over parts of the island on most days.

On two or three days, widespread thundery showers with gusty winds due to Sumatra squalls are expected between the predawn hours and morning.

These thundery showers also bring about natural lightning shows and, hopefully, cooler nights.
