Raffles City Chongqing, designed by renowned Israeli-born Canadian architect Moshe Safdie, is a metropolis that saw 900,000 shoppers visit its mall in one weekend alone when it opened in September last year.

Glass-bottom sky deck

Shoppers thronged the mall as it was the largest to open in Chongqing in 2019, making it a must-visit destination.

Almost a year later, there is new hype around the mall again.

A glass-bottom sky deck, called the Exploration Deck, has been unveiled.

It is the first major attraction to launch in Chongqing since the lifting of the nationwide lockdown, according to Lucas Loh, President of the CapitaLand Group in China.

The deck extends from the sky bridge, which according to CapitaLand, is the world's highest at 250 metres tall and links up the most number of skyscrapers.

Tickets snapped up quickly

To manage the crowd, only 3,000 tickets were available daily at the moment.

CapitaLand says almost all the tickets were snapped up in the opening weekend -- a indication of the shopping mall's popularity among the residents.

Walk "mid-air"

As the ground is see-through, visitors can feel like they are walking in "mid-air".

An immersive experience

The Exploration Deck starts at the first floor with an exhibition done in collaboration with National Geographic.

The exhibition introduces the history and development of Chongqing before leading visitors to a futuristic-looking world that imagines life on Mars through an express lift.

Visitors then step into a pocket park that oozes tranquility, before entering the open-air sky deck.

Here's a video of what the Exploration Deck looks like:
