If you're quite tired of seeing the same cai png (economical rice) stall in your neighbourhood every day, or ordering fast food delivery, perhaps you can try out these Hainanese dishes.
Facebook user Bryan Wong curated this album of uniquely Singaporean Hainanese food which includes dishes like Coconut Chicken, Beef Noodles, Curry Rice, and more.
Here, we list some Hainanese dishes that you should try.
All of them have either delivery or takeaway options. Some businesses also allow you to pre-order so that you don't spend time waiting outside.
1. Hainanese Coconut Chicken
A signature Hainanese dish, this is a soup made by stewing chicken and coconut flesh in coconut water.
There are few places in Singapore where you can find this part sweet, part savoury dish. Yeh Ting at Woodlands Civic Centre is one of them.
This dish is available for delivery and pre-order.

2. Yi Bua
Yi Bua is a glutinous rice flour kueh filled with shredded coconut, ground peanut, gula melaka, sesame seeds, ginger, and dried persimmons.
This can be found at Hainan Xiaochi at Kim Keat Palm Food Centre. Do note that this kueh is only available for takeaways and you might need to pre-order it because it sells out fast.

3. Hainanese Herbal Mutton Soup

4. Hainanese Beef Noodle
Toa Payoh Hwa Heng Beef Noodle has a long history starting from the 1970s when it was a known as Odeon Beef Kway Teow at North Bridge Road. It is quite well known for its dry beef noodles.
You can order it to go.
Location: #01-01, Bendemeer Food Centre (map)
Opening hours: Wednesday to Saturday, 10am to 2.30pm
5. Hainanese Western Food
"Western food" in Singapore is quite a misnomer because it doesn't quite look like cuisine from the West.
Much of what we know as Western food — like chicken chop or fish and chips with a side of fries, baked beans, and coleslaw — is actually fusion food popularised by Hainanese-run coffeeshops in the 1930s.
Two places you can get these fusion dishes are British Hainan and Prince Coffee House.
British Hainan's signature dish is the Traditional Hainanese Oxtail Stew. You can pre-order it at its two outlets and delivery is available.
Location: 75 Carpmael Road (map) and #01-06, 158 Kallang Way (map)
Call: 6336 8122
Opening hours: Wednesday to Monday, 11am to 3pm; 6pm to 10pm
You should also try Prince Coffee House's Stewed Ox Tail, Beef Hor Fun, and its iconic Chicken Pie.
You can pre-order them so that you don't have to spend time waiting outside.
Location: 249 Beach Road (map)
Call: 6468 2088
Opening hours: Daily, 11am to 9.30pm.
