The original audio came from a group of youths who were chanting on a bus in 2016.

A video of what appeared like several youths chanting gang cheers at a Tampines Street 11 HDB block has been circulating online.

Youths "shouting" gang cheers

The video was apparently originally uploaded via Instagram, with the caption roughly translating to, "Scare me, I thought it was a trumpet."

The 15-second clip looked as if it was filmed during the "Sing Together Singapore!" initiative that took place on Apr. 25.

In the video, it appeared as if several youths were "shouting" verses from a gang chant from their homes.

Singapore Uncensored posted an article regarding the video on Apr. 26, which has since gone viral with over 1,900 shares.

Audio was taken from another video

While the clip was likely legitimate, the audio was not.

The audio was taken from an old video sent to Stomp in 2016, which featured youths shouting a gang cheer on an excursion bus.

The audio used for the viral clip matches the one in the video from 1 minute 12 seconds onwards.

Do note that no one in Singapore is supposed to chant any sort of gang poem in public.

Under the Societies Act, anyone convicted of being a member of an unlawful society such as a gang or secret society may face a fine not exceeding S$5,000, a jail term of up to three years or both.
