Covid-19: 1,111 new cases preliminarily confirmed on April 21, 2020, bringing total to 9,125

The Ministry of Health (MOH) has preliminarily confirmed 1,111 new cases of Covid-19 infection on Tuesday, April 21, 2020.

This brings the total number of cases in Singapore to 9,125.

The vast majority of cases remain Work Permit holders residing in foreign worker dormitories.

There are also 20 Singaporeans and Permanent Residents among the new cases reported today.

MOH said that it is currently working through the details of the cases, and further updates will be shared via a separate MOH press release later on Tuesday evening.

April 20 updates

Monday, April 20 saw Singapore's highest single-day increase in cases thus far announced by the ministry: 1,426.

1,369 were Work Permit holders who resided in dormitories, while 32 cases were Work Permit holders who resided elsewhere.

25 cases were found in the wider community, with 18 who are Singapore Citizens and Permanent Residents, and seven Work Pass holders.

Three new clusters were identified: at Jurong Apartments dormitory (555 Upper Jurong Road), Woodlands Lodge II (190 Woodlands Industrial Park E7) and 8 Sungei Kadut Loop.

As of April 20, 6,075 of the Covid-19 cases reported in Singapore were linked to foreign worker dormitories, forming about 75 per cent of the cases here.
