Update on Mar. 11, 8:03pm: 

In response to queries by Mothership, a spokesperson for McDonald's said that store closures and openings are "commonplace" in the industry and also part of their continued growth plan.

The brand adds that it has been a pleasure serving and interacting with visitors at the outlet for the past 20 years.

"Our restaurant at Science Centre Singapore will cease operations on Sunday, 22 March. Although store closures and openings are commonplace in our industry and also part of our continued growth plan, it’s especially sad for us to say goodbye to one of Singapore’s iconic McDonald’s restaurants. It has been a pleasure serving and interacting with visitors at Science Centre Singapore over the past 20 years. We look forward to serving them at our other restaurants."

McDonald's will be taking away another iconic outlet Singapore, this time in the west.

On Mar. 22, 5pm, the fast food outlet at Science Centre will close permanently.

The closure was spotted by a Mothership reader, who was saddened by the news.

The nearest available outlets are at Jem, JCube, and IMM.

The news comes after the closure of the Changi Airport Terminal 2 outlet on Jan. 31, after 16 years of service.

Mothership has reached out to McDonald's for more details and will update this article when they reply.
