On Feb. 9, the Ministry of Health (MOH) announced three new cases of the coronavirus in Singapore.
A 39 year-old male Bangladesh national was among the new cases.
He had visited Mustafa Centre prior to hospital admission on Feb. 7.
And even though the risk of contracting the infection from public places is assessed to be low, according to the Ministry Of Health, many netizens were apparently spooked by a case where they spent a good few hours queuing up the past few days.
However, when Mothership visited the next day on Monday morning (Feb. 10), it appeared to be business as usual for Singapore residents who wished to buy masks.
Mustafa has been releasing supplies on a daily basis, resulting in a horde of visitors eager to stock up on masks.
This is especially so as the masks are short in supply in major pharmacies and chains around the island.
Although the queue was not as long as it previously was, a security guard that Mothership spoke said it was the "normal crowd" for a Monday.
Despite the signs, the staff manning the counter said that surgical and N95 masks are still available.
Customers simply have to queue up to buy them.
Other parts of the store appear empty enough.
No overnight crowd?
About 3am on Feb. 10 though, an Instagram user mentioned that the place had no crowd at all.
It was a "stark contrast" from the usual late-night supermarket rush, she added.
¯\_(ツ)_/¯
