After nearly a decade, veteran gaming YouTuber Felix Kjellberg, better known as PewDiePie, has announced that he would be taking a break from his full-time job as a creator on the platform.
Said he had made up his mind
In his video posted on Dec. 14, 2019, Kjellberg briefly announced in his video that he would be taking a break from YouTube, early next year.
The 30-year old, who is also one of the top YouTube creators on the platform with a whopping 102 million subscribers, told his viewers that he was "feeling very tired", and would be "away for a little while".
Kjellberg added that he would explain more later on, but wanted to give his viewers a little heads-up first.
A year of high and lows for PewDiePie
2019 has been a huge year for Kjellberg, as the YouTuber hit several milestones but also experienced a few bumps along the way.
In August, Kjellberg got married to his long-time girlfriend, Marzia Bisognin, and bought a house in Japan together in October.
However, the same house was later burgled in early December, according to the newlywed couple.
In the early half of 2019, the YouTuber also found himself in a subscriber war with Indian music giant T-Series, but eventually told his followers to end the "Subscribe to PewdiePie" movement after a terrorist shooter in Christchurch, New Zealand invoked the phrase while live streaming the shooting.
Kjellberg said in a deleted tweet that he was "absolutely sickened" that his name was even spoken by the terrorist.
